Artist Statement
The emotional tone balances the juxtaposition of safety and exposure, creating a visual dialogue between warmth and vulnerability. The chosen palette of soft greens and pale skin tones evoke feelings of shelter, contrasted by cool whites and blues signifying exposure. The main collision occurs at the center, where 'safety' colors crowd around a more open, inviting expanse of 'exposure', pushing against the borders to create tension. The layout suggests a pulse—two small centers vying for space across negative areas, which embodies the pattern of 'teeth' against 'flood', demonstrating struggle and softness. The inclusion of broken pixels introduces imperfection and resilience, enhancing the theme of fighting against exposure. Negative space allows for breathing room, ensuring the composition feels intentional yet spontaneous, reflecting the dynamics of safety and risk.
