Artist Statement
This composition explores the emotional dichotomy of nostalgia and progress through a clean versus fragmented juxtaposition. The top half follows a rhythmic rain pattern in lighter shades of burnt orange and gold, symbolizing the warmth of nostalgia. In contrast, the bottom half is disrupted by chaotic drips of charcoal and dark red, illustrating the sometimes turbulent nature of progress. The palette of ancient fire conveys a historical warmth yet a sense of potential urgency. The composition’s split reflects a weighted bottom, suggesting gravity's pull, while maintaining a light top that 'drips' downward, mirroring the interplay of hope and heaviness in life's journey.
