Artist Statement
This artwork embodies the emotional tension between defiance and submission, using a contrasting palette of dark maroon, red, and gray. The central darker hues represent the unmoved center of defiance, while the softer grays symbolize the receding aspects of submission. The 'threshold' layout manifests as a seam where colors collide, emphasizing the struggle between the two emotions. Broken pixels intersperse the structure, adding intentional disruptions akin to emotional scars, while maintaining negative space for breathing, reflecting the unresolved nature of the themes presented.
