Artist Statement
The emotional tone captures the delicate balance between awe and terror, embodied by contrasting elements across the composition. The palette features stark blacks and whites with splashes of pale blue and red, illustrating the conflict between the calm and the chaotic. The alternating patterns, checker on one side representing awe (order) and target on the other symbolizing terror (chaos), create a visual echo of stability and instability. This arrangement also follows a top-to-bottom flow, enhancing the sensation of falling or descending into uncertainty, while broken pixels introduce an imperfection that mirrors the instability of memory. The negative space strategically contributes to the overall tension, allowing the viewer to breathe amidst the chaos.
