Artist Statement
This artwork explores the emotional interplay of softness and severity, using a palette that juxtaposes warm and cool tones to depict the tension between gentleness (powder pink, warm white) and harshness (carbon black, sharp crimson). The center features a strong contrast of deep black and striking crimson, signifying a collision of conflicting emotions. The surrounding lattice pattern of soft colors creates an echo of gentleness, while broken pixels intrude, representing disruptions in the emotional landscape. The bottom-weighted layout emphasizes a sense of gravity, with soft expanses surrounding the more severe central collisions, embodying the idea of protection amidst pressure, reflective of the seed quality.
