Artist Statement
The emotional tone captures the conflict between clarity (signal) and chaos (noise), which is manifested through a selection of contrasting colors. The palette of dark tones with bright accents creates a visual tension that evokes the experience of navigating through interference. The central pulse of brighter green represents the effort to emerge from a field of static gray and dead black surrounding it, creating a clear focal point against the clutter. The rational arrangement leads to collisions where the bright signal meets darker static regions, emphasizing disturbance in connectivity. This layout, a spiral pressure, adds to the complexity, creating movement towards the center while leaving sufficient negative space to symbolize the struggle between exposure and shelter. Each color choice and arrangement facilitates the metaphor of striving for clarity in a confusing environment.
