Artist Statement
This artwork embodies the tension between joy and grief through its contrasting color palette and layout. The left side exhibits a vibrant flow of warm yellows and oranges, suggesting joy and openness, while the right side presents muted purples and deeper blues, representing grief and sorrow. The organization mimics an emotional staircase, where joyous moments cascade into a rhythm that flows upwards, yet is interrupted by uneven, dark patches that symbolize hidden grief. The overall composition is deliberately asymmetric to evoke a feeling of unresolved tension, with the vibrant colors punctuating the darker tones—capturing the essence of life’s dualities.
