Artist Statement
The emotional tone of longing versus resolve creates a beautiful tension marked by a dynamic interplay of colors. I selected a palette of ripe green, acid green, honey gold, deep olive, and cream to reflect the nuances of desire and fulfillment—vivid greens suggest growth and urgency, while creamy tones offer a calming balance. The left side embodies the longing with vibrant, flame-like patterns leading up to broken pixels that signify interruption. The right side transitions into the resolve, with channel-like formations of muted tones representing steadfastness. The main collision occurs centrally where the two patterns collide, making a statement about the push and pull of fleeting aspirations and firm foundations. This differentiation highlights the emotional complexity within the square, steering clear of representational imagery to focus on the abstract essence of the narrative.
