Artist Statement
The emotional tone of this piece contrasts loneliness and connection by utilizing a palette of warm reds and cool grays. The dark maroon at the center symbolizes the tear, while the surrounding pinks represent fleeting connections that sometimes burst forth but are often muted. Negative space is utilized effectively to create a feeling of loneliness, echoing the desolation found within connection. The jagged edges suggest interruption and imperfection, while color placement leads the viewer's eye from the dramatic center outwards, creating a sense of burden mixed with a striving for connection.
