Artist Statement
This composition balances the warmth of desire with the coolness of restraint, utilizing a palette that echoes these themes. The warm reds and oranges emerge as dominant forces, suggesting desire, while the muted creams and dark plum hold them back, creating an emotional conflict. The crosshatch of the restraint pattern intersects with the stripes of desire to form a visual argument and tension at the center, where bright colors clash with muted fields.
