Artist Statement
This composition embodies a struggle between grief and joy through a dynamic arrangement of color. The bright yellows and oranges evoke joy, contrasting with the muted purples and deep blues that symbolize grief. The central pixels represent a 'hole' against a chaotic background, demonstrating pressure and rhythm. The use of stripes for grief creates a sense of heaviness while the noise pattern for joy introduces a feeling of expansion. The sharp vs. soft contrasts depict an emotional pushing and pulling, maintaining a balance yet leaving areas of negative space to reflect quiet moments amidst the turmoil.
