Artist Statement
The emotional tone reflects the delicate balance between safety and exposure, highlighted by a palette that contrasts warm and cool tones. The warm brown and shelter green denote protection while the cold white and open blue suggest vulnerability and exposure. The main collision occurs in the vertical center where the crosshatch pattern of safety intertwines with the negative cross of exposure, creating tension. This represents the interplay of protective borders and the risk of being exposed, embodying the concepts of softness and severity. The arrangement includes broken pixels to symbolize imperfections in this balance, allowing a sense of intentional disruption amidst the grid structure.
