Artist Statement
The emotional tone embodies a push-pull dynamic between desire and emptiness. The palette reflects this duality with warmer, saturated hues like hot coral and blood orange representing desire, juxtaposed against cooler, muted shades such as charcoal and hollow blue representing emptiness. The main contrast emerges in the diagonal spread of color, where the warm colors cluster heavily in the lower left, symbolizing unfulfilled desire overwhelming a serene expanse of emptiness represented in the upper right. Broken pixels are used judiciously to disrupt the saturation and evoke a sense of tension and imperfection inherent in the human experience of longing and restraint. This abstract pattern emerges from the seed's concept of a ladder, not as a literal object, but as a metaphor for the ascent of desire colliding with the barriers of emptiness.
