Artist Statement
The emotional tone centers on the clash between defiance and submission, represented through an interplay of sharp contrasts and flowing patterns. The palette of muted colors (storm gray and near black) paired with brighter accents (faded gold, pale mint) creates an atmosphere of tension and release. The dominant storm gray establishes a dark, enclosed field, while intermittent flashes of faded gold represent moments of defiance and resistance against the overwhelming backdrop, mimicking pulse marks. The collision occurs primarily in the center where these contrasting elements intersect, aligning with the layout of horizontal and vertical movements. The application of broken pixels throughout heightens the interruption, contributing to a sense of dynamic motion and unpredictability that reflects the chaos within the emotional push and pull.
