Artist Statement
This composition embodies the emotional tension between relief and dread through a palette that juxtaposes soft, pale tones with stark, dark shades. The predominant use of storm gray and near black suggests an ominous weight, while splashes of pale mint and faded gold create a sense of release amidst the pressure. The collision occurs where the darker colors clustering in the corner give way to lighter shades, symbolizing an exhale, a softening space forming against the density of dread. The spiral and crosshatch patterns create a chaotic undercurrent that suggests a struggle, echoing the tension of ancient fire flickering in the shadows. Each broken pixel serves as an imperfection, amplifying the idea of an incomplete repair attempt against chaos.
