Artist Statement
The emotional tone reflects a dance between feelings of longing—represented by warmer and softer tones—and resolve, denoted by stronger contrasts and more defined shapes. The palette of stain brown, ash gray, warm ivory, soft gold, and deep wine layers the piece with a sense of nostalgia (longing) intertwined with clarity (resolve). The arrangement creates a primary collision in the center, where a mosaic of chaotic accumulation meets structured stairs, echoing the push and pull of emotions. The use of broken pixels introduces intentional disruptions, emphasizing the theme of repair versus damage while maintaining a clear enough structure to convey the turbulent beauty of these feelings. Negative space allows breathing room, suggesting periods of calm between moments of density and intensity.
