Artist Statement
This piece reflects the tension between control and surrender through the use of a stark color contrast between deep charcoal and hot coral. The top four rows are dominated by the feeling of control, represented by a grid-like structure and strict patterns, while the bottom four rows soften into radial patterns that suggest yielding. The main collision occurs centrally, where the chaotic overflow of coral meets the cooler, more contained charcoal, symbolizing the push and pull between these two emotions. The palette emphasizes desire and emptiness, utilizing warmth against coolness, creating a visual dialogue of pressure and release without ever forming recognizable shapes.
