Artist Statement
This composition embodies the tension between joy and grief through the juxtaposition of warm and cool colors. The chosen palette of deep blues, vibrant yellows, and muted purples reflects the emotional spectrum, where yellow sparks moments of joy against a backdrop of sorrowful blues. The contrast manifests in the upper section, rich in vibrant warmth, colliding with deeper, more fragmented tones below. This split horizontal flow symbolizes the struggle between these emotions, with sparks of joy against the weight of grief. The abstract pattern arises from a center-seed of 'mouth', embodying the unspoken emotions and hidden expressions. Patterns of targeted joy clash with the framed grief, creating an asymmetrical rhythm that captures both tension and release.
