Artist Statement
The emotional tone marries themes of isolation and the yearning for connection. The color palette of red, black, pale blue, and white was chosen to evoke a stark contrast between warmth (connection) and chill (loneliness). The primary collision occurs between the dense, dark edges against the lighter centers, emphasizing the struggle between the two emotional states. The crosshatch pattern represents the complexity of these feelings, while the negative space allows for the breathing room of loneliness. The arrangement also suggests a sense of top-weighted pressure, with higher density towards the top, reflecting the weight of these emotions.
