Artist Statement

The emotional tone captures the tension between trust and suspicion, creating a struggle between openness and obstruction. The chosen palette of burnt orange, dark red, charcoal, and gold simulates the feeling of warmth shaded by heaviness, suggesting both comfort and uncertainty. The contrast lies predominantly in the darker shades, which command the space, hinting at suspicion and blocking trust from flourishing completely. This interplay of colors forms a fractured, yet cohesive flow where the warmer gold accents reflect trust amidst the dominant shadows. The 'island and sea' layout emphasizes density in the center of the square, surrounded by negative space that represents the quiet of trust gradually eroded by swirling suspicion. Broken pixels are scattered to symbolize micro-disruptions within perceptions, further enhancing the collision of trust and suspicion throughout the piece.
