Artist Statement
This piece captures the emotional collision between defiance and submission through a carefully chosen palette of black, dark violet, soft gold, and pale green. The outer edges represent defiance, illustrated by a thick outline of dark tones that assert presence, while the inner 4x4 core of softer colors introduces a feeling of submission and release. The 'ring' pattern mirrors the pulse of tension, with broken pixels adding an imperfect human touch to the strictness of the edges. The contrast between the highly saturated colors at the edges, and the subdued pastel tones at the center creates a visual narrative of struggle and resolution.
