Artist Statement
The emotional tone of relief versus dread is captured through the juxtaposition of dark and light colors. The palette of black, dark violet, soft gold, and pale green reflects a struggle between heaviness and brightness, creating a dynamic rhythm. The contrast happens primarily across the middle rows where soft gold punctuates dark areas, suggesting the battle of an emerging light against overwhelming shadows. The seed of 'crack' introduces an asymmetry that breaks the perfect mirror intended in the layout, disrupting the flow and evoking a sense of tension and unexpected intersections.
