Artist Statement
The emotional tone centers around a profound desire clashing with the boundaries of restraint. The palette blends vibrant, saturated hues like hot coral and blood orange, representing desire, against muted shades of charcoal and hollow blue that convey restraint. This interplay creates a dynamic tension across the square, with the warm colors clustered in the center emphasizing the warmth of yearning, while the cooler tones surround and bound them like a sealed edge. The upward echoes of the desire pattern are interrupted by the ladder pattern of restraint, forming a stark visual dialogue. The positioning of broken pixels adds an element of imperfection, reinforcing the struggle between wanting and having, all while preserving a significant amount of negative space, creating a visual metaphor for unfulfilled aspirations and the weight of barriers.
