Artist Statement
This piece encapsulates the emotional tension between relief and dread through the interplay of colors and patterns. The palette of pale mint, soft sky, storm gray, near black, and faded gold is chosen to evoke a soft yet foreboding atmosphere. The heavy presence of storm gray and near black accentuates feelings of dread, while lighter tones of pale mint and soft sky introduce the notion of release and openness. The layout represents two clashing patterns: a lattice of dread dominating the upper left, juxtaposed against a patchwork of relief that gradually opens towards the lower right. This collision creates a dynamic tension across the canvas, where relief fights to emerge amidst layers of impending dread, embodying the essence of the seed. There is an intentional use of broken pixels scattered throughout to symbolize imperfections, emphasizing how relief often comes with remnants of past pressures. The design culminates in a central collision, inviting the viewer to contemplate the complex emotional landscape described by the seed.
