Artist Statement
This artwork explores the emotional tension between nostalgia and progress through a carefully selected palette and dynamic pixel arrangement. The contrasting colors of deep black, dark violet, and soft gold against pale green create a visual metaphor for the collision of memory (nostalgia) with forward momentum (progress). The upper half of the grid embodies a rise with lighter and warmer hues representing hope, while the lower half, heavier and darker, symbolizes the weight of the past. This split horizontal layout captures a sense of vertical struggle and aspiration, with broken pixel placements introducing an element of imperfection, reflecting the fragmented nature of memory. The abstract pattern thrives on the interplay of shadow and light, encapsulating a journey from calm reflection to hopeful ascent.
