Artist Statement
This piece embodies the tension between joy and grief, utilizing the palette of yellows for warmth and deep blues for sadness to explore this duality. The outer border is derived from the grief aspect, featuring broken dots to signify instability, while the inner core highlights joy with bright, expansive colors arranged in a balanced split-screen pattern, symbolizing the contrast of emotions. The black outline creates a division that emphasizes both protection and attack, where the intense color shifts within echo the constant struggle between overwhelming sadness and fleeting happiness.
