Artist Statement
This artwork embodies the emotional tug-of-war between longing and resolve, represented by the interplay of warmer burnt orange and dark red opposed by the cooler, more stable charcoal and gold. The palette draws from a theme of 'ancient fire,' illustrating the warmth of deeper emotions amidst the struggle for clarity. The main collision occurs in the center with a complex lattice of resolve mingling with softer stacks of longing, creating a dynamic rhythm that feels both contained yet overflowing.
