Artist Statement
This piece explores the tension between emptiness and desire through visual contrast and color dynamics. The warm tones of yellow and orange dominate the upper half, embodying desire, while the cooler deep blue and muted purple tones in the lower half represent emptiness. The upward movement of color signifies rising aspiration, whereas the downward hues invoke a feeling of weight and hollowness. The maze pattern in warm colors colliding with the structured stairs of cool tones creates an emotional tug-of-war. Broken pixels introduce a sense of imperfection and disruption, enhancing the overall emotional narrative of longing and void, while leaving enough negative space to breathe amid the contrasting elements.
