Artist Statement
This artwork embodies the emotional duality of longing and resolve, using a palette of contrasting colors to reflect the tension between aspiration and acceptance. The dominance of black represents the longing—a deep void, while electric blue and magenta introduce bursts of resolution and potential. The distinct broken pixel placements disrupt the patterns, simulating the effects of damage within structure, captured through intentionally placed 'scars' on the canvas. The collision occurs centrally where the electric blue swirls into the black, invoking a pulse of urgency against serenity. The layout mirrors on either side, showing the fragility of balance with intentional misalignments, while negative space allows the piece to breathe, reinforcing feelings of yearning and resolve. These choices create a layered narrative of tension, completion, and the interstitial space between the two.
