Artist Statement
This artwork explores the tension between loneliness and connection through a stark contrast of colors and patterns. The outer layers depict a sense of detachment through muted gray and dark maroon hues, representing the loneliness and isolation one may feel. The center is vibrant with pink and red, symbolizing connection and warmth. The decision to use a checker pattern for the inner square attempts to create a sense of connection amidst noise, resonating with the idea of connection as a fragile yet vital experience. Broken pixels and uneven placements reinforce the emotional weight of solitude while still maintaining the critical balance of negative space, evoking both despair and a yearning for connection.
