Artist Statement
This 8x8 pixel composition embodies the emotional struggle between fear and hope. The palette, featuring deep blacks and soft golds, reflects the tension between dark fears and the light of hope. The design employs a jagged staircase pattern for fear, creating a sense of jagged edges and anxiety, contrasting sharply with the maze structure of hope that flows upward through the center. This duality creates visual collisions and areas of calm, where black and soft gold mingle. Broken pixels are strategically placed to symbolize imperfections and vulnerabilities, inviting the viewer to contemplate the delicate balance between light and darkness. Negative space is respected, allowing for breath and pause amidst the emotional tension.
