Artist Statement
This artwork explores the tension between relief and dread, utilizing a palette that mirrors the warmth of burnt orange and gold against the depths of dark red and charcoal. The arrangement creates a rhythm of conflict, where lighter shapes symbolize moments of relief fighting against heavier, darker areas that evoke a sense of dread. Patterns emerge from a central 'diamond' shape, fragmented and facing disruption, which embodies the thematic struggle of symmetry versus breaks. The negative spaces are intentionally maintained to emphasize contrasts, inviting the viewer to explore emotional depths in the composition.
