Artist Statement
This composition embodies the tension between defiance and submission through a layered representation of emotional strata. The warm tones of soft gold and stain brown dominate to evoke a feeling of resistance, while the contrasting ash gray and deep wine suggest areas of retreat and quiet. The collision occurs prominently along the diagonal axis, where the upward movement of defiance intersects with the descending patterns of submission, creating a push and pull that is visually engaging and full of unresolved energy. Broken pixels are strategically placed in the central area to symbolize imperfections. The palette reflects guilt and forgiveness, emphasizing the emotional contrast within the defined boundaries.
