Artist Statement
The emotional tone explores the push and pull between fear (represented by darker shades) and hope (represented by softer, luminous colors). The palette chosen contrasts the depths of black and dark violet against the warmth of soft gold and pale green, embodying both anxiety and optimism. The pattern's layout reflects a split horizontal division, where the top four rows exhibit the jagged rhythm of fear through density and broken pixels, while the bottom rows rise like new signals of hope, creating an upward flow. The collision between the sharpness of dark tones and the soft gold hues in the center emphasizes the continuous struggle between these emotions, suggesting both a protective center and jagged edges. Overall, the arrangement maintains negative space to create breathing room, enhancing the contrasting forces within the composition.
