Artist Statement
The emotional tone captures the tension between relief and dread, as dense clusters of colors at the edges imply pressure while soft gradients in the center suggest release. I selected a palette of pale mint and soft sky to convey calmness, contrasted with storm gray and near black to evoke heavy dread. The lively interactions of colors represent the collision of these emotions, where the main contrast resides in the upper left corner, intensifying the sense of chaotic fear and transitioning into a lighter, airy center. The 'pillar' shape seed informs the vertical density on one side, and broken pixels intentionally disrupt the evenness providing a sense of depth and imperfection, hence embodying 'ancient fire'.
