Artist Statement
This composition explores the tension between control and surrender using a saturated color palette. The colors are chosen from a melancholy spectrum, with deep blues representing depth and contrast against soft lavenders and muted plums signaling surrender. The emotional tone reflects a struggle, centering bright accents towards the middle where control overwhelms and meets the softening edges of surrender. The main contrast happens at the center, where dense colors abruptly transition to softer, quieter tones around the frame, interrupting the visual flow which resonates with the concept of ‘overflow vs containment.’
