Artist Statement

The emotional tone of control vs surrender is captured through a structured yet chaotic arrangement of colors, where deep blacks signify control and warmth emerges via reds and creams to suggest surrender. The palette of muted cream, red oxide, and blackened plum reflects both the restraint and softness of these emotions. The main collision occurs at the center, where the colors intersect, creating a complex narrative of tension. The patterns of mirror and negative cross depict the struggle between orderly control and organic surrender. Broken pixels are intentionally placed to simulate the imperfections of emotional experience, adding depth and character to the overall composition, while maintaining a significant area of negative space to emphasize unresolved feelings.
