Artist Statement
This piece captures the tension between relief and dread through a gradient of color density. The palette of pale mint, soft sky, storm gray, near black, and faded gold evokes the heaviness of an impending storm while also suggesting lightness that fights against it. The distribution climaxing in the top left corner creates a focal collision of deep tones that represents despair, while the lighter greens and blues release towards the bottom right, suggesting hope and airiness. The broken pixels subtly disrupt the flow, hinting at fragility and imperfection, contributing to the emotional narrative of struggle and contrast.
