Artist Statement
The emotional tone reflects a struggle between defiance (represented by the aggressive reds and deep blacks) and submission (softer pale blues and whites). The palette's bold reds clash against the understated whites, creating a vivid tension in the center where the two emotions collide. The main contrast occurs at the center, where structured, scar-like patterns of red encounter the diffuse, ash-like qualities of pale blue, hinting at the invasion of chaos. Drawing upon the shape seed of 'bridge,' the layout invites the viewer to traverse this emotional divide, while broken pixels introduce intentional imperfections to symbolize the scars of conflict. Each square serves as an abstract expression of emotional gravity, reflecting the struggle portrayed by the seed.
