Artist Statement
This composition explores the duality of joy and grief through a split layout. The top four rows embody joy with bright yellows and oranges, representing expanding hopes and warmth. The bottom four rows capture grief with deep blues and muted purples, evoking layers of sorrow and heaviness. The palette's warm hues contrast sharply against cool tones, creating a visual dialogue of emotional tension. The stair-step pattern on the grief side introduces a sense of incremental pressure, while the ring formations in joy symbolize a sense of continuity. Broken pixels are introduced for imperfection, representing the human experience's inherent flaws. The interplay between order and chaos manifests in the alternating color distributions, leading to a resonance of unresolved emotions.
