Artist Statement

The emotional tone reflects the tension between loneliness and connection, utilizing a palette that embodies the warmth of fire (burnt orange, gold) contrasted with the heaviness of dark red and charcoal. The choice of dark colors in the top rows—representing loneliness—creates a sense of isolation, with off-center placements and a 'ring' pattern that creates negative space around the central theme of emptiness. In contrast, the bottom rows utilize maze-like arrangements with lighter colors to evoke feelings of connection, suggesting movement and warmth. The broken pixels add an element of imperfection, signifying memory fragments. The overall flow from top to bottom evokes a transition from desolation to warmth, creating a compelling story of emotional struggle and potential resolution.
