Artist Statement
This piece explores the emotional tension between desire and restraint by employing a palette that blends saturated hues of red oxide and small orange with muted tones like muted cream and iron gray. The contrast reveals a compelling collision at the center, where the warm, pulsing desire meets the calm but restrictive gray tones, representing restraint. Each color's placement reflects a flow that sweeps diagonally across the square, generating a rhythmic interplay reminiscent of pressure bands. The structured approach of stacked bands illustrates the emotional strata while intentional broken pixels weave imperfect disruptions throughout, enhancing the narrative of yearning and containment. This abstract representation aims to evoke feelings of tension and dynamism without becoming a visual depiction of the seed's literal elements.
