Artist Statement
The emotional tone is a conflict between fear and hope, represented through color contrast. The darker hues (black and dark violet) create an oppressive external field, while the lighter shades (soft gold and pale green) illuminate the inner space, symbolizing hope emerging from fear. The use of a diamond shape and a checker pattern on the outside versus a frame on the inside encapsulates the idea of protection around hope. The contrast of these elements suggests a narrative of resilience, with the brighter colors breaking through the darker confined space, illustrating the struggle of light against weight.
