Artist Statement
This composition plays with the emotional tension between control and surrender by utilizing a palette that evokes calm (pale blue, white) against stronger, darker hues (red, black). The central part of the grid is dominated by deeper colors representing control, with lighter colors spilling from the edges, suggesting a slow surrender. The crosshatch and scar patterns collide in the center, creating a visual 'hinging' effect that embodies pressure and release. By introducing 4 broken pixels, the composition adds imperfection and an echo of disruption, magnifying the emotional conflict represented by the contrasting colors.
