Artist Statement
The emotional tone represents the conflict of defiance against submission, portrayed through a palette of deep blacks and soft gold, suggesting a struggle between heavy darkness and a flicker of hope. The color black signifies multiple layers of defiance, while the soft gold lends a sense of submission and the hope within it. The layout emphasizes an argument grid where the darker hues occupy the edges, creating a heavy frame, while brighter pixels pulse like defiant sparks in the center. As the arrangement progresses from the bottom to top in rows, it imitates falling pixels amidst noise, where light and contrast collide, resulting in an asymmetrical pattern that reflects a battle of emotional weights. The use of broken pixels introduces an imperfect quality, mirroring real emotions, and negative space is intentionally crafted to urge contemplation.
