Artist Statement
This artwork embodies a dynamic push and pull between the emotional tones of pressure and quietness. The palette consists of ghostly off-whites and grays paired with deeper, compressed reds and dark navy, enhancing the sense of depth and contradiction. The diagonal layout with dense clusters of color collides with patches of negative space, suggesting movement away from compression toward soft release. This is visually represented through a checker pattern (pressure) clashing with a stair-like structure (quiet), emphasizing the emotional conflict suggested by the seed. The edges are lightly feathered to allow an organic flow, reinforcing the idea of soft versus hard contrasts. The broken pixels add intentional disruptions, mirroring the shattering against the tide, highlighting moments of disorder within an overall abstract narrative.
