Artist Statement
This artwork captures the emotional tension between relief and dread through contrasting colors and patterns. The palette blends pale mint and faded gold to represent relief, with storm gray and near black embodying the dread. The collision occurs in the center where the lighter tones of relief face the denser darker shades of dread. The interplay between the stacking patterns of dread and the veiling textures of relief creates a dynamic atmosphere of pressure and release, reminiscent of ancient fire's flickering light amidst shadows.
