Artist Statement
The emotional tone encapsulates the push and pull between envy and gratitude, as well as the contrast of quiet internal conflict against external noise. The selected palette consists of deep blacks, soft whites, and pale blues to convey the duality of somber emotions and uplifting gratitude. Main contrast arises from the clash of dark, dense blocks against lighter and more transparent areas, suggesting an interplay between heaviness (envy) and lightness (gratitude). The 'stair_step' shape seed manifests as an uneven rhythm throughout the piece, creating a feeling of rising and falling, echoing the emotional narrative of aspiration interrupted by fear.
