Artist Statement
This piece embodies the conflict between longing and resolve. The chosen palette of lime, black, electric blue, and magenta reflects a vibrant contrast of emotion: lime signifies longing's brightness and hope, while black and electric blue represent the grounding of resolve. Magenta acts as an unsettling accent that interrupts the calm of the black fields, creating a visual tension. The layout and flow are dictated by the two pulses in the negative space, mirroring the emotional push and pull. The ladder against the fault line transforms into a staircase pattern of alternating colors, suggesting a climb towards resolution amidst chaotic undertones. The positioning of the vibrant accents creates focal points that draw the eye, suggesting movement and emotion within the stillness of certain rows.
