Artist Statement
This composition captures the emotional tension between nostalgia and progress through a stark contrast of color and placement. The palette is composed of bright lime and electric blue against the deep void of black, representing the vibrant pull of progress against the heaviness of nostalgic memories. The split horizontal layout evokes a sense of division, as the bright colors push from the edges toward the center, while the dark shades create a bottom-weighted heaviness. The use of stripes for progress juxtaposed with teeth patterns for nostalgia creates an active dialogue of movement versus stasis.
